Year 5 visit to The Newt Roman Villa

On Tuesday 1 July, Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to The Newt in Somerset, where we were fully immersed in the fascinating world of Roman Britain. Blessed with glorious sunshine, the day was packed with hands-on experiences and historical discovery.

We explored the museum and the impressive Roman Villa, learning how people lived nearly two thousand years ago! We took part in a range of engaging activities that brought Roman daily life to life – from weaving and creating mosaic tiles, to handling real and replica artefacts. These interactive sessions helped deepen our understanding of Roman craft skills, home life and culture.

The visit was both enjoyable and educational, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion. It was a truly memorable day – full of sunshine, smiles and stories from the past.
