After a fantastic ‘Vocabulary Parade’ assembly to celebrate World Book Day, classes were treated to story time in our reading gazebo with mystery readers, and each child was able to choose their own new book using their World Book Day voucher.

Year 2 had a fabulous visit to Carymoor and a few days later we were lucky enough to have Gary from Carymoor visit the school to give a whole school assembly 'Talking Rubbish' and then workshops to our Year 3 and 4s on wasting less and recycling more.

Children from Years 5 & 6 took part in the local athletics competition at Westfield, where they participated in running, jumping and throwing events. It was a great competition, and they all performed brilliantly! Well done Oaklands...

Year 6 had a fabulous time at Nothe Fort as part of their WWII topic. The pupils all dressed as evacuees and activities included an evacuee experience, an air raid experience, learning about shopping, washing clothes, cooking and experiencing a school lesson.
