    Introduction to Parliament Assembly

    We welcomed Tom Williams to Oaklands yesterday, for a fascinating Introduction to Parliament assembly for our KS2 pupils. The children really enjoyed the talk - perhaps we'll see a former Oaklands pupil in Parliament in the future!

    Adventure Mice authors visit school

    Years 1,2 and 3 were lucky enough to have a visit from the authors Sarah McIntyre and Philip Reeve, who have written the books Adventure Mice.  The children thoroughly enjoyed drawing their own adventure mice characters as well as playing their very own space-themed game.

    Easter Hunt 2024

    This year the weather delayed our Easter Hunt, but we made sure it still happened! Better late than never!  All the children across the school took part. This was a good test of their Geography skills as well as PE as they practised their map reading and orienteering.

    Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Concert

    Our Year 2 children were treated to a performance by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. BSO had previously worked with our Year 2 during fun workshops in school, and so they were thrilled to see the musicians in action on the big stage!

    Primary Festival of Dance

    Year 1 Visit Yeovil Library

    Year 1 had a wonderful morning at the Library on Thursday.  We had a tour of the library, completed a book character treasure hunt and explored lots of beautiful books. A fantastic treat for us all on World Book Day!

    World Book Day

    After a fantastic ‘Vocabulary Parade’ assembly to celebrate World Book Day, classes were treated to story time in our reading gazebo with mystery readers, and each child was able to choose their own new book using their World Book Day voucher.

    Carymoor Visit and Workshops

    Year 2 had a fabulous visit to Carymoor and a few days later we were lucky enough to have Gary from Carymoor visit the school to give a whole school assembly 'Talking Rubbish' and then workshops to our Year 3 and 4s on wasting less and recycling more.
