Year 5 Mayan Workshop

Year 5 had a fantastic time taking part in an exciting Mayan workshop on 3rd March. The children were fully immersed in the world of the Ancient Maya and enjoyed bringing their history learning to life.
During the workshop, the children learnt how to say the numbers from 1 to 10 in the Mayan language and had great fun practising them together. They also explored the Mayan creation story through a range of engaging drama activities, which helped them understand the beliefs and traditions of the civilisation in an interactive way.
The class had the opportunity to handle and examine a variety of artefacts, discussing what they might have been used for and how they link to what we have already been learning in our history lessons. This hands-on experience helped to consolidate the children’s knowledge and deepen their understanding of the Ancient Maya.
It was a brilliant day filled with curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm for learning!
