Key Stage 1 engaged in skills-based sessions which worked on their speed when dribbling, power when shooting in the goal and their decision-making in a football game.

Key Stage 2 showed fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship throughout their inter-house football tournament.

Well done to Ash for scoring 77 goals across all of Key Stage 2!

It was brilliant to see so many children taking part.       

What a fantastic show!

As an expert lacrosse player, he taught the children how to cradle the ball whilst running, scoop the ball up into the net, throw (shoot) the ball and how to pass to another player!

They then put their skills to the test in a game of hungry hippos!  They had lots of fun!

The children involved took part in sports activities that were based on games and films!

All the children represented the school with respect and enthusiasm.

We are looking forward to the next one! 

They were given the opportunity to explore the equipment and learn about the protective clothing worn by firefighters. One of the highlights of the visit was getting to squirt water from the hose!

This experience supported the children’s learning in Design and Technology, where they have been designing their own fire engines, as well as in History through their study of the Great Fire of London. As always, the children were fantastic throughout.

On Friday 6^th March, the children got the chance to go and see their work come to life in the form of 4 wonderful information posters. 

We will be unveiling these posters to parents and family before placing them in the foyer of the school for all visitors to read. 

During the workshop, the children learnt how to say the numbers from 1 to 10 in the Mayan language and had great fun practising them together. They also explored the Mayan creation story through a range of engaging drama activities, which helped them understand the beliefs and traditions of the civilisation in an interactive way.

The class had the opportunity to handle and examine a variety of artefacts, discussing what they might have been used for and how they link to what we have already been learning in our history lessons. This hands-on experience helped to consolidate the children’s knowledge and deepen their understanding of the Ancient Maya.

It was a brilliant day filled with curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm for learning!

One of the highlights was creating a human solar system, helping pupils understand scale and movement in space, before drawing a pocket-sized Solar System to scale. Along the way, they discovered fascinating facts - including that Venus spins upside down and Uranus rolls on its side through the Solar System. 

The session was engaging, informative and inspired a real excitement for science and space!

These fun sessions have enabled the children to learn all about the game of cricket and given them opportunity to try something new. 

The children looked and played with toys from the past and discussed how toys have changed.

This week, pupils and staff at Oaklands Primary School were treated to a truly magical experience, thanks to the incredible team at RNAS Yeovilton. Despite the challenging weather, Santa and one of his trusty elves made a dramatic entrance by helicopter, landing safely on our school field to the delight of our children.

Santa spent time meeting pupils across the school, spreading festive cheer and making the day unforgettable. Our Foundation Stage pupils were especially thrilled, as Santa personally collected many of their beautifully written letters during his visit.

We would like to extend our thanks to RNAS Yeovilton for organising this wonderful event. Their support and dedication helped create a moment that our pupils will remember for years to come.

Reverend Sarah explained the importance of Baptism and then performed a mock Baptism involving the children as parents and Godparents.

The children enjoyed exploring the country park and collecting lots of autumn treasure along the way.
