Oaklands Autism Base is a specialist setting for up to 14 children with autism.
We have two specialist classes within the base, each with its own full time specialist teacher and dedicated team of highly trained staff. We run a 'satellite model' which means that each pupil can access their entire educational provision within an enhanced base class, just as their mainstreamed peers access their education within a mainstream class. Each pupil is a valued and included member of the whole school community and has access to all of the facilities of the wider school. Pupils in base classes participate in regular activities alongside the school community including assemblies, special celebrations and events.
Pupils in base classes are also associated with a mainstream class in their chronological year group. They have access to educational and social opportunities alongside this group, including lessons, trips and visits, where this is appropriate for them.
