Welcome to Piglets Class Page
This term we have begun to look at ‘Growing and Changing”. We have read some stories about growing such as Jasper’s Beanstalk and The Very Hungry Catepillar. We have even planted our own beans and are regularly checking them for any sign of growth!
We are talking about how things, animals and people change as they get older and we will be exploring simple life cycles- like that of a caterpillar changing into a butterfly and a tadpole changing into a frog.
We are continuing our work on story telling and are visiting the library this term.
We are now having daily phonics lessons where we practise the sounds we know as well as learn some new ones.
We are continuing to use Number Blocks resources to help us with our understanding of number. We are also looking at other aspects of our numeracy curriculum; we are looking at measuring, comparing sizes of different objects and using everyday language to talk about time.
We are visiting the computer suite regularly and beginning to use a mouse to control what we do on the screen.

Please try and read with your child as often as possible, it really helps to practise as much as they can. A lot of children are now starting to blend sounds together as they read to identify words.
Rocket words will be tested every Thursday- please remember to hand them in so we know when your child is ready.
We do PE every Tuesday morning. Please ensure all uniform and PE kit is fully named.
We will soon be giving homework for your child to complete over the weekend. It will be based on the letter sounds we have learnt in class that week. Please support your child to do as much as they are able.
You should have all received an email from Tapestry so that you can activate and access your online learning account. Please see Mrs Toogood if you have not received an email or you are having trouble logging on. Thank you.
